HWA NC Events Primer
Do you want to set up a horror fiction event? The HWA’s North Carolina chapter has over 40 members across the state and offers a wide range of easy-to-plug-in programming that can be adapted to any venue.
Our authors include bestsellers, award winners, and industry standouts, as well as up and comers and writers from a diverse range of backgrounds. What we all share is that we are happy to do events and to share our writing and our love of the genre with audiences.
We have successfully partnered with libraries, bookstores, breweries and distilleries with event spaces, and other venues, and we routinely draw full rooms. Material can be targeted for any audience, from YA to extreme horror, and our members have a broad and deep wealth of knowledge across the horror genre.
Here are some of the events we can offer:
Reading
- Either single author or group
- Can be tailored to a specific subject (ghosts, Halloween, etc.)
- Q&A sessions afterwards
Talk
- Single subject lecture from a subject matter expert
- Topics can include writing, getting published, horror genre discussion, and more
- Can include AV component if desired
Panel Discussion
- Group discussion of authors, curated by a moderator
- Can be single topic or cover a range
- Audience submitted questions can be part of the program
Workshop
- Single or small group of instructors to walk aspiring horror writers through the basics of the craft
- 3 hour duration
- Includes both lectures and exercises
